Rev. Brittany Sutherland

Rev. Brittany Sutherland is from Hopkinsville and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management/Entrepreneurship and her Master of Business Administration from Murray State University.

Brittany was first introduced to the PC(USA) by her freshman college roommate. Shortly after joining Ministry Open to All (MOTA), she also decided to join First Presbyterian Church in Murray through baptism on her 18th birthday in March 2009.

The Presbytery of Western Kentucky took her under care as a pastoral candidate for ordination as Brittany enrolled at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in fall 2015. There she served as Student Body Representative, Clerk, and President during her first, second, and third years, respectively. Other leadership roles included: Chapel Ministers worship leadership, Residential Housing Board, Community Affairs Committee, Cultural Diversity Committee, and Coordinator of the Student Food Pantry. From 2016-2018, she also served in ministry at Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church in Louisville.

Brittany graduated from seminary in May 2018 and was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in June 2019. Most recently, Rev. Sutherland served as pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Minerva, Ohio. As the new pastor of FPC Murray, she is excited to explore this familiar space in new and creative ways as God leads the community forward.

Brittany and her fiance, Gilbert Sutherland, moved to Murray in July of 2021 and were wed in October of 2022. Outside of the church, Brittany renews her spirit by spending time with her sisters, niece, and nephew, finding books she hopes to one day read, and collecting craft supplies she promises will be used for projects that she’ll think of soon.
