Rev. Brittany Sutherland is from Hopkinsville and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management/Entrepreneurship and a Master of Business Administration from Murray State University, as well as a Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Brittany was first introduced to the PC(USA) by her freshman college roommate. Her first Presbyterian worship service was right here at FPC Murray. Shortly after joining our campus ministry (then called Ministry Open to All (M.O.T.A.)), she also decided to join First Presbyterian Church in Murray through baptism on her 18th birthday in March 2009. For the next 6 years, she served in a number of roles in campus ministry, youth and children’s ministry, office administration, and for a brief time as custodian.
The Presbytery of Western Kentucky took her under care as a pastoral candidate for ordination as Brittany enrolled at seminary in fall 2015. Brittany graduated from seminary in May 2018 and was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in June 2019.
Rev. Sutherland moved back to Murray in July of 2022 to join FPC as our pastor and campus minister. Outside of the church, Brittany renews her spirit by spending time with her husband, Gilbert and their collection of pets as well as her sisters, niece, and nephew. You can probably also spot her shopping for books she hopes to one day read and collecting craft supplies she promises will be used for projects that she’ll think of soon.
