Head & Heart current update

We continue our discussion and viewing of a DVD by John Dominic Crossan.  The book is entitled How to Read the Bible and Still be a Christian (2015; HarperOne paper). The accompanying video featuring Crossan is Violence Divine: Overcoming the Bible’s Betrayal of its Non-Violent God (Living the Questions, 2016).

In this book and video, Crossan “grapples with scripture’s conflicting visions of God and Jesus–at times depicting a loving God, and at other times a vengeful God–and explains how Christians can discern and decipher which passages to trust.”  The argument he presents is revolutionary in its implications for our understanding of justice, the life and teaching of Jesus, and how Christianity should be understood. Reading the book is the best way to appreicate Crossan’s argument, but at our meetings over the next 6-8 months, we will focus on the “Violence Divine” video presentations, which are each 45 minutes to an hour in length.  If anyone wishes to see a review of the major points raised in this video, please send an email to Ken Wolf at wolken43@gmail.com and I will send you a copy and / or put you on the Head and Heart email list, if you prefer.

Our meetings last 2 hours, or less.
